While I was on holiday I re-read Vile Bodies. I didn’t remember how openly gay Myles is in the book. Of course Waugh only lets you realize it between lines, so maybe it didn’t register the first time round.
I bought the book when I saw it in the retro penguin cover. I remember having read it many years ago and thought it would provide me with some background for my comic Fairy in the Sun. In my back story Dottie used to be one of the Bright Young People, a set of 1920’s celebrities on whom the Vile Bodies is based.
